DUSK STATE / STANDARDS · v2.0 · approved for production 2026-10-03
Cultivating trust, in practice.
Dusk State is an independent technical publisher and product company. It creates operational software, diagnostics, structured intelligence, tools, and agent-readable services for people, organisations, systems, and authorised agents.
Dusk State is a play on flow state: focused, uninterrupted work that moves naturally once the right conditions exist. Dusk is the hour when ordinary noise recedes and signals become legible.
Flow here is bounded. Good work recognises its edges, responds to the ground beneath it, and moves through real conditions. Cultivating means creating those conditions over time: practice, care, evidence, useful constraints.
Trust is never claimed. It is shown through sources, defined scope, explicit unknowns, versioned records, and correction routes — for human creativity and authorised technical systems alike.
Evidence before action. is the operating doctrine: a method, not a slogan. It sits in small, discreet positions — corner labels, footers, methodology notes — and never replaces the tagline.

Rotating, stacking or separating the icon’s parts
Asking an image model to draw the logo

Embedding the tagline into the wordmark
Colour
Canonical marks are neutral-only. Enriched imagery may carry muted environmental colour; it never recolours the logo. Body text: #060606 on #F1F1ED (≈19:1) or #F1F1ED on #060606. #8B8B86 is for metadata at 14 px+ only (≈3.2:1 on off-white — not for body copy).
Typography
DUSK STATE
Wordmark · Geist Sans SemiBold · uppercase · tracking 0.16em · outlined in canonical SVG
Tools, records, and systems for work in motion.
Display · Geist Sans 500 · 40/48
Every record states its source, scope, and version. Unknowns are listed, not hidden.
State transitions implied: outline → bridge → resolved
Muted, atmospheric colour; calm open areas for type
Small human scale where people appear; no faces
Wrong direction
Literal desks, offices and laptops (round 1, rejected)
Robots, holograms, glowing nodes, neon code
Postcard sunsets, moons, stars
Every image the same figure-under-square scene
Generated text, logos or UI as subject
Composition & overlay
Backgrounds are generated without logos or copy. The canonical SVG lock-up and outlined Geist text are composited deterministically. Use a flat #060606 scrim at 18–32% for legibility; keep type in the image’s open area and outside the outer 6% crop margin.

Accessibility & production
Every placed image needs alt text describing what is shown; approved alt text is in 06-reference/enriched/asset-manifest.json. Textures are decorative (alt="").
Never carry essential copy only in an image; repeat it in HTML.
Meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast for text over images — use the scrim, then re-check.
Serve WebP/AVIF derivatives (max 1920 px) via <picture> with responsive crops; keep PNG and SVG masters.
Generation prompts live in 06-reference; keep them internal.
Imagery marked approved-for-production may ship; anything new enters 04-originals/in-review/ first.
